The School of Statistics and Data Science has a long history of running schools, which can be traced back to the statistics department established in 1945.

After the continuous efforts of several generations of statisticians, the school has gained gratifying achievements in various aspects. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the MOE in 2016, Statistics ranked seventh in the country, and again entered the top 10% of the country. In the first-level statistics disciplinary ranking of Chinas graduate education by the Research Center for Chinese Science Evaluation (RCCSE）, it has entered the top 1% of the country for three consecutive years
